My name is Melissa Luk. I am the daughter of a social worker & horticulturalist born in Richmond, British Columbia. After graduating from the Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCADU) in 2012 I have been making and thinking about art and how to get art into the hands and thoughts of ordinary people. In turn, I attempt to do this by making works that reach as far and freely as possible.

I enjoy modest activities. I like to read, walk, bike and feel the sun shine on my back. I like to work for people that I like and believe in and will do good work for them. I am particularly interested in working with organizations that merit autonomy, balance, cooperation and recycling resources.

My practice is rooted in mural painting and socially-engaged art. I am currently seeking projects relating to those but also to public art, civic dissent, folk craft, growing food & farms, non-art institutions, radical collectives, community organizing, food recovery, zines & independent publishing creative direction or event producing, along with educating, gardening and illustration.

Do you have a wall for me?
